New Beginnings

Beginning a new blog is never easy. As I sat down to start this post, I wondered who I should write this blog for. Myself? Whoever visits this site? And then I decided, in keeping with the spirit of Remember with Stories, I want to write for your ancestor. Yes, your ancestor. Wherever or whenever they came from, I want my posts to paint a picture of how they may have lived, what styles they may have worn and entertainment they may have enjoyed. I want to get you thinking past the whats of your ancestor (i.e. names and dates) and think about who your ancestor was. I’d also like to include unique stories I come across that show an ancestor’s humor, love, or humanity.

I had a similar goal in the blog-posts I wrote for Ancestry. Check them out below to get an idea of how this blog will look in the future. I hope as you read future posts that you’ll ask how they can apply to understanding your own ancestors. We are very like them, after all: in the end, what we leave behind in the world is love and stories.
